You are cordially invited to participate in the Third International Workshop & Summer School on Plasma Physics at Black Sea from Monday, 30th June to Saturday, 5th July 2008

Summer School: The school would bring together leading researchers in the field of Plasma Physics to give lecture on their specialties to advanced graduate students, postgraduate students and young scientists in the form of a one-week intensive course.
Scientists experienced in other disciplines who have recently entered the fields of plasma physics or nuclear fusion will also benefit from the school, which provides an overview of the various inter­connected research domains and describes the latest developments. Gradu­ates and teachers of science are welcome, as is anyone with an interest in the subject.
The 40-minute key lectures will be given by senior physicists in their field. Participants (PhD, Master students and  young scientists) are strongly encouraged to present their own work during the afternoon sessions as 20-minute oral presentations or as posters.

Workshop: We are pleased to offer also a range of workshops. These workshops are designed to serve as an introduction to new subject areas outside the Summer School courses. The general and topical lectures will be selected among the contributions submitted to the workshop and the authors will be notified by a paper approval letter.
A Special Session on Plasmas for Environmental Issues will be co-organised by the Institute of Plasmas and Nuclear Fusion, Lisbon, Portugal and the Laboratory of Plasmas and Energy Conversion, University of Toulouse, France. The purpose of this Special Session is to review recent results on plasma applications intended for “green decontamination”. The objective is to exchange scientific knowledge on environmental sustainability.

Attendance at the workshop sessions is open to all participants in the IW&SSPP.

The Workshop will be held from June 30th to July 5th, 2008 in the resort of Kiten near the town of Bourgas, Bulgaria. Kiten is located on the Bulgarian south Black Sea coast. There is a regular connecting bus service from Bourgas, Varna and Sofia to Kiten. All these towns can be reached by airplane and train. Participants who arrive at Sofia airport can travel to Kiten by the University bus. The University shuttle bus will transport participants from Bourgas airport to the hotel.

The social program includes a welcome party, an excursion to the Ropotamo river, and an official dinner.

The regular flights of the Bulgarian Aviation Company Hemus Air are every day to Varna and on Friday to Bourgas. There are many charter flights from Europe to both Varna and Bourgas. There are also some buses and trains every day from Sofia to Bourgas and direct bus line from Sofia to Kiten (about 450 km). Additional regular direct bus lines from Sofia to Kiten exist as well. The travel is about 7 hours. The price of the ticket is approximately 30 leva (around 15 EUR).

An University shuttle bus will transport participants from Sofia to Kiten on 29 of June at 10.00 a.m . If this option is of interest the participants should send additional Email to LOC.
